Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence for Gippsland

TAFE Gippsland is Victoria’s centre of excellence for renewable energy training, demonstrating national leadership across Australia.
The new Clean Energy Centre opened early 2026 and began delivering training in renewable technologies including solar, battery technologies, along with hybrid and electrical vehicle servicing and repairs.

A new Gender Impact Assessment Report (GIA) produced by Tradeswomen Australia highlights the persistent structural and cultural barriers preventing women from entering and completing electrical apprenticeships in Australia, at a time when the sector urgently needs a larger and more diverse workforce.

As a government-owned renewable energy company, SEC is investing in renewable generation, storage and other projects that create hundreds of rewarding jobs and training opportunities.

This includes apprenticeships, traineeships and graduate programs, as well as a wide range of trades, specialist and generalist roles. From electricians, construction, engineering, project managers and machine operators, through to community liaison, operations and administration.

Federation University have developed an Asia Pacific Renewable Energy Training Centre (APRETC) in Ballarat and Gippsland.
